Sports Awards

The Longford Sports Partnership would like to acknowledge the continued high achievement of our athletes and clubs. This is done each year in association with the Longford Leader. These achievements are far beyond what would be expected of a small County. The aim of the LSP is to maximise participation opportunities. With this in mind, the LSP felt it was important to recognise those that contribute to greater social inclusion and advocate for sports participation at community level. So, in addition to the ten monthly winners you watched in The Leader all year, we called for nominations for four winners in the following categories:

• Exceptional Service to Sport/Hall of Fame
• Volunteer of the Year
• Junior Sportsperson of the Year
• Sports Ability

These winners represent what the Sports Partnership is all about; what sport is about. Sport should be progressive and attract participants from every corner of the County, from every age group and from all social backgrounds. Longford Sports Partnership hope to remove any barrier that prevents participation in sport.
