Each local authority is required to develop a County Outdoor Recreation Plan in line with the ‘Embracing Ireland’s Outdoors, the National Outdoor Recreation Strategy 2023-2027’ from the Department of Rural and Community Development. County Longford’s strategy is developed by the County Outdoor Recreation Committee and consultants, Outscape.

Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Mark Casey said, “I encourage you all to attend these public meetings so that you can have your say. Your opinions are critical to ensuring this new plan reflects what the local area needs in terms of outdoor recreation, including walking, mountain biking, trail running, canoeing, angling, swimming, orienteering and so much more. Please come along and share what you wish to see in the future for outdoor recreation in County Longford.”
