Longford Sports Partnership is offering Transition year groups in secondary schools in Longford, the opportunity to avail of the Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership (SL1), a UK based qualification now delivered through the Local Sports Partnerships. 

About Sports Leader UK:

Sports Leaders UK awards and qualifications equip young people with employability skills for life improving motivation, self-esteem, communication, team work and confidence. Leadership volunteering is a vital part of all our courses allowing young people to practice and build their skills in order to ‘Give More. Become More.’ to improve employability.

Currently the SL1 Award is the only award available with plans to bring other awards on board in the near future.

About the SL1 Qualification in Sports Leadership:

The Sports Leader Award Scheme is a recognised programme of leadership qualifications, designed with today’s education landscape in mind and is the perfect way to empower your students with the leadership skills that they need in order to succeed. Students will learn and hone their skills in communication and leadership and boost their confidence to become more employable and help lead others. In doing so, your school will benefit from creating a cohort of young leaders who can be role models for other students and improve your school's standing in the local community. In 2016, independent research showed 68% of tutors believed delivering sports leadership qualifications improved attainment in other subjects.
