What We Do
Longford Sports Partnership (LSP) is dedicated to increasing participation in sport and physical activity across County Longford. As part of the national network of Local Sports Partnerships supported by Sport Ireland, LSP collaborates with local clubs, schools, community groups, and agencies to promote inclusive, accessible, and sustainable opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.
Key Areas of Work
Community Programmes: Organising a variety of sport and physical activity initiatives, including walking groups, water-based activities, and programmes tailored for older adults and individuals with chronic conditions among others.
Youth Engagement: Partnering with schools to deliver sports and activity programmes that encourage children and teenagers to adopt active lifestyles.
Inclusion & Accessibility: Developing initiatives that support participation among underrepresented groups, such as people with disabilities, women and girls, older adults, and those in disadvantaged communities.
Club & Volunteer Support: Providing training, coaching courses, and small grants to assist local clubs in development and to support volunteers.
Training & Events: Hosting workshops, events, and seasonal activities (e.g., summer walks, kayaking, HER Outdoors Week) to promote physical activity and community engagement.
Strategic Planning: Working with stakeholders to enhance local sports infrastructure, improve facility usage, and strengthen links between schools, clubs, and national governing bodies.
Through these efforts, Longford Sports Partnership aims to foster a healthier, more active community by making sport and physical activity more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
